Taken for a ride – short poem

What can I say? What can you do.

What do you mean? I’ve been had by another ruse.

Why must this happen? Why can’t I learn.

The revolution has bounced. Now I’m stuck with this lie.

A con, all of the time. I agreed. And I was taken for a ride.

Rid The Horns – poem/song

This is loosely inspired by the Great Depression and Great Recession.

Lost my job, took my car, took my home.
The banks bailed out yet they still foreclosed.
No remorse from Wall Street.
They can’t be told no.
Out here foraging for food.
While they party with a bonus I paid for.
Tell me, how is that fair in a sensible world.
Where the quality of my life is determined by a bull.
Should have never been let loose.
Now they’re too big to prosecute.
Need to rip the horns out and watch him croak.

Make a new home by the river.
I don’t care if the economy gets better.
Big brother can give him all the money he wants.
If I’m not important enough to be saved.
Then I’m done playing these games.
We figured you out, you’ve got caught.
Tell me, how is that fair in a sensible world.
Where the quality of my life is determined by a bull.
Should have never been let loose.
Now they’re too big to prosecute.
Need to rip the horns out and watch him croak.

Could the system be fixed?
Needs a deep cleaning and a whole lot of common sense.
With some work we might get it on a right track.
All this speculation needs to go.
No room in this rodeo.
A new bull in town is ready to fight back.
Tell me, how is that fair in a sensible world.
Where the quality of my life is determined by a bull.
Should have never been let loose.
Now they’re too big to prosecute.
Need to rip the horns out and watch him croak.

Short little rant about tv

This will be a short rant, but one that I’ve thought about recently.

What’s the deal with non-cable television? Seriously

As someone without cable every once in a while I’ll get tired of watching videos online. So I figure, hey, why not check out whats on tv these days. Now, to me the stations never had more than one good show in production at a time. The other shows have always been pretty boring and bland. In this day and age where if you have the internet you can have access to all these wonderful shows both from the US and abroad, why even watch tv anymore? I find it incredible that after all that has happened these channels still have all these horrible shows. It seems like they haven’t changed a bit. It’s all the same cop shows and sitcoms. I find it very difficult to relate or even care to know these same rehashed characters and storylines. I find the humor to be atrocious in most of the so called ‘comedies’, and the dramas never really feel like drama. They all seem to play out the same regardless of the name of the show or network. I am pretty thankful to live at this point in time, where you can throw your tv out and find the good stuff online. My curiosity gets me from time to time so I’ll flick through the channels, but rarely does it last for more than five minutes. Then I’m back to the Internet!

More rambling about cities

So today I’m going to list the five cities outside the US that I would want to visit. There are quite a few more, but I want to limit the number to five.

  1. Berlin – A city steeped in what I think of as ‘interesting history’. So many sites to explore. The city seems like it would be nice to just walk around even.
  2.  London – Another city full of history and significance. Walking the River Thames, riding the London Eye, or even catching a glimpse of Abbey Studios or Konk Studios would be such an experience.
  3.  Tokyo – The largest metro area on the planet. Japan gives off a very high tech vibe that would be interesting to witness. Seems like a monster of an area.
  4.  Sydney – I would really like to see the Opera House. Climb on top of the Harbour Bridge, maybe? A city I’ve recently become fascinated with.
  5.  Auckland – Similar to Sydney I suppose. Looks like a really neat kind of secluded city. The Sky Tower would give some fantastic views! Oh, the weather seems pretty nice too.

Short Poem

Without regret, I stroll towards the trees.

Past the lights, the sights, and smells that have protected me.

I crave a challenge. So I welcome the unknown.

Anything to get out of this house. Away from people I’d rather stone.

Rambling about cities I would like to visit

I was asked recently that if money wasn’t an issue, where would I want to go. I’ve been thinking about that a bit and decided to give it a shot. Which city or country would I find interesting? Any kind of barrier that would be difficult to break? I decided to have two categories, ‘Cities I would want to visit’ and ‘Countries I’d like to visit’. For the ‘Cities’ category I made a list of places inside the US and outside.

Cities in the USA:

  1. Los Angeles, CA – Never been to the west coast, much less California, but would love to see and experience LA firsthand. It seems like a city that has a little bit of everything. The weather, the different types of people, the look of the city, there’s something that makes the city intriguing. I would hope that it’s not just a well played campaign to attract new visitors, but either way the city still seems interesting.
  2.  San Francisco, CA – A city I’ve wanted to visit for what seems like forever. The cityscape is something that has always interested me. The city by the bay almost always looks good in whatever I’ve seen it in. I’ve always wanted to ride a cable car or visit Alcatraz. The view from the Golden Gate looks awesome!
  3.  Honolulu, HI – Not really much to say, the city just looks like a tropical paradise.
  4.  Seattle, WA – The natural beauty of the region looks great, but my fascination with the 90’s music scene really does it.
  5.  Las Vegas, NV – This is more of a just to see it type of city for me. I’m not really a fan of gambling, but I’ve always wanted to see the desert or walk around the strip. Seems like a lot of fun anyway.  The Stratosphere should give excellent views of the area I would imagine.

The next list will be of cities outside the US that I would want to visit. That will be added soon!

Unfinished poem, but coming along

The city lights, are blocking out the sky.
Holds no remorse, we came chasing the pie.
Our own faults, for having that spark lit in our eye.
Believing we are bigger than life.
The city doesn’t care for us.
Wants our money then helps us die.

The shops are an illusion.
A front for a capitalist collusion.
Marketed towards hipster fads and ideas.
The new way of thinking has been created by those pigs.
Taken the city by storm.
Inviting their guineas to become residents.

There’s graffiti on the 1st street bridge.
Downtown’s become a center for pro gentrification.
Corner’s littered with big box stores selling health foods.
Farmers markets being shunned because they’re not hip and cool.
Brick buildings have been replaced with glass.
Homeless being marched out of town by a wealthier class.

Did Not Answer – poem

I’ve been experimenting with how I write lately. Not really sure how I feel about it yet, but came up with this.

I hear the bell ring.
As I’m climbing the stairs.
Walk through an empty hallway.
Towards the lab to see if anyone’s there.
Hope I’m the first to get back.
Can’t stand those awkward stares.
Take a big deep breath.
Reach the corner, on my last steps.
The faces inside hold the torments.

Struggle every day.
With my own demons.
Forced to interact.
With people who just encourage it.
Wears a person down.
Like your not worthy of being human.
I pray that they get theirs.
An unpleasant surprise from their maker.
To feel what it’s like to suffer.

They say you are your own worst enemy.
Well today that’s true.
Always results with a loss somewhere.
Communities frantically looking for clues.
Always a could have, never a should have.
Compassion can’t be taught, should always be part of you.
Be a friend when one is needed.
Who doesn’t need someone to listen?
Who doesn’t need a friend?

Lemons – poem/song

You’re always with your lemon stand.
I’m always with my crew.
Oh so many times I’ve passed.
Just to catch a glimpse of you.
Everyday is the same now.
I just don’t know what to do.
Shave my head.
Shave my head, stand in the light.
Get a good look at my fruit.

I don’t know you, but I want to.

I’ll grab your hand.
If you turn to run back.
Tell me all your dreams and hopes.
We’ll find out where they live.
Beautiful I’m sure you’ve been told.
But I’ll say it anyway.

I don’t know you, but I want to.

You’re always with your lemon stand.
I’m always with my crew.
Oh how many times I’ve passed.
To sneak a peek of you.
Everydays the same now.
I don’t know what to do.
Shave my head, beg on my knees.
Get a good taste of your fruit.

I Sold – poem/song

I sold my soul, to the devil in gold.
These rhymes are now his, and that smile is making me sick.
I know what I’ve done, but the songs just needed sung.
I tried so long, to leave this hole all on my own.

I’ve made a mistake.
I didn’t know which route to take.
Stuck at these crossroads and could really use some help.
Too late, I’ve signed on the line, now I’m stuck in hell.

Give me more green, I’ll try to change the scene.
Give you more words, go create your own verse.
This musics not mine, it’s too hard to refine.
You’ve made it to appeal, but the emotions weren’t real.

I’ve made a mistake.
I didn’t know which route to take.
Stuck at these crossroads and could really use some help.
Too late, I’ve signed on the line, now I’m stuck in hell.

I’ll leave this phony business. Keep my music the way that it is.
Just hope that you’ll forget about our little commitment.
